About Dr. Heather Richmond
For over ten years, Heather has dedicated her life to Traditional Chinese Medicine. Whether treating patients, or studying under the most renown figures in her field, Heather has continually striven to become a better practitioner.
Heather currently serves as a board member for the Acupuncture Association of Colorado, and she is board-certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Heather specializes in musculoskeletal pain management and internal medicine, but she also has a passion for treating veterans and military-related health issues, including PTSD, TBI, and repetitive stress injuries. She worked for years as a VA care provider within the Veterans Health Administration network.
When the pupil is ready, the teacher will arrive.
This ancient Chinese proverb aptly captures Heather’s introduction into Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Years ago, after pursuing various ineffective treatments for a persistent illness, Heather decided to give acupuncture a try—little did she know how life-changing that decision would be. Her acupuncturist not only cured her ailments, but she also encouraged Heather to pursue a path as a healer—urging her to enroll in acupuncture school during each of her visits.
Following her mentor’s advice to the fullest, Heather received first her Masters of Science in TCM, then her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2015 from Five Branches University. Based out of San Jose, CA, Five Branches University provides students with the opportunity to learn from top TCM practitioners, both domestic and international. Her capstone project involved designing a novel protocol for treating spinal cord injuries (SCI), combining cutting-edge stem cell therapies, acupuncture, and electrostimulation.
Before studying medicine, Heather dedicated much of her youth to the outdoors. She worked for the California Parks and Recreation Service for six years at Mount Diablo State Park, and she also worked as a volunteer firefighter with Fallen Leaf Lake FD in northern California. Heather’s love for the outdoors continues today. She is a Rocky Mountain National Park season pass holder and an active member in the Front Range hiking community.
